Thanks to all the supporters of your fire deparment. We are all working together to provide the best protection and medical care available.
Tools for Patient Care

Your Bristol Fire Department offers the best patient care available. We use the most advanced tools in the pre-hospital medical field to help patients in their residences and in the squad. The CPAP is used to treat certain types of breathing problems. The results are phenominal! We also have the EZ I/O for peripheral IV access and the King airway to facilitate easier protection of airways in full arrests. Your support continues to provide the best patient care available.

12-lead HEART MONITORS

Our paramedics use our 12 lead heart monitors. Each of the two transporting squads carry a 12-lead transmitting cardiac monitor, so even if we may be on another call, our second squad out carries the same equipment for the best patient care available.

As you may have read or heard, when a patient is having some type of a cardiac episode, your paramedic at Bristol fire is able to send a copy of your heart rhythm to the emergency room while en-route. The medic can treat the episode according to our protocol. The Doctor at the hospital can then look at the strip and decide what additional treatment is needed before the patient arrives. This greatly speeds up the diagnosis and treatment and may save the life of one of your loved ones. This is state of the art technology and it is in use by your fire department.

FREE Blood Pressure / Sugar level checks

If you have high blood pressure and need it checked, or if you have diabetes and need your sugar level checked, or if you just don't feel good and would like either of those items checked, stop by Bristol FD and the duty crew check it for you. It doesn't take long. Be sure to call the station first during the day at 330-889-2176 and make sure they are not on a call.

If you need checked out during the middle of the night, though, call 911. You can always sign off if you decide not to go to the hospital.

From your Bristol Fire Department: As the weather warms up, kids are out playing and riding their bikes. Drive safe.

NEW FIRE STATION UPDATE

A LOT has been happening. To bring you up to speed... we have submitted our final budget for the project. There were a few clarifications we had to make but everything is in order and ready to spend the entire $2.235 million. The Environmental Assessment is also complete and submitted. There were several things that need refined and expanded on but they have all been completed to the satisfaction of FEMA. So why aren’t we digging dirt you ask? Well there seems to be an item Section 106 of the National Historic Preservation Act of 1966 as amended and the associated regulations of 36 CFR Part 800, that states we have to perform a preliminary archeological survey to determine if there could be items of historic value on the property. Well at a tune of $7,000.00 FEMA dollars later gentleman walked the property step by step to investigate it. He did discover that there were probably ancient Scottish settlers there because he discovered 2 Bristolwood golf balls. He also found a few pieces of flint rock but nothing of significance. He will submit his report in the next week and it will be forwarded to the State for their approval. After that we will have our budget released and construction can begin. We are that close to seeing our fire station start. It’s almost time... so hang in there. If you see Eric Campbell be sure to say thank you to him. We had to have the construction site plowed the day before the archeologist did his investigating. It only took a phone call to him and the job was completed that evening. A citizen who understands the importance of this project and is willing to help us any way he can. Thanks Eric.
Next we will be waiting for the contractor to start moving earth. The pond part of the project is soon to be started also. Hopefully the same contractor will get that project so they can be done in conjunction with each other. The Trumbull County Engineers office is helping us with the design of the pond along with the Trumbull County Soil and Water Conservation Office. As soon as we have the plans in place we will be getting bids on this part of the project.
As you can see there is a lot of work being done even if you really can’t see the progress. Once the dirt starts moving and the hammers start pounding you will be able to notice progress. Remember in 10 to 12 short months we will be in our new station.
Any questions just ask Chief French or Assistant Chief Craiger.

Plans have been drawn up and are available to view at the present station. Drop by and see the plans if you are interested. We plan on continuing to be a center for training and protection in this part of Trumbull County.

We have two new thermal imagers. These units help to locate any "hot spots" in your walls or ceilings giving your firemen the chance to contain the fire present before it spreads much further.

Many of you saw the old building behind the fire station used for training. Your Bristol FD was lucky to be asked by the TCTC instructors if they could use this abandoned house behind the station to conduct the required burn for this years TCTC 240
class. After some inspections and a lot of paperwork the OK was obtained and the drill was on. We were of course asked to attend and assist with the class. The members who attended were able to get in some much needed pump practice, hose practice, safety evolutions, air bottle filling, rehab ops., and many other skills we use at every fire we go on. So not only did the students learn but the veteran fire fighters who assisted them learned also.
Any time we get to practice our skills also provides us with the opportunity to show off our skills. Such was the case with a few of our members. Asnt. Chief Craiger, Captain Lenney, Captain Hudak, Lt. Ulrich, FF Robertson, FF Waid, and FF Thompson. Good job guys!

Auto Extrication
Those who missed the Joint Training for March missed a great training. The crews went to
J & C Auto wrecking and had access to 3 different cars to destroy. Everyone took turns and had plenty of opportunity to cut, pry, twist and mangle all they wanted to. Afterwards the business owner treated us to pizza as a reward for the hard work we do for the community. We thank him for that.

Grass Fires?
Where did all the grass fires go this year? We have been very fortunate to have had only a couple grass fires this season as compared to a few other departments in the area. This is really just a fluke that the weather and rain were timed perfectly to prevent us from having the fires. But rest assured one day we will once again get our turn in the barrel. Hopefully, our citizens will use caution and obey the law in this area.

Thank You For The Support Of Your Fire and EMS Department
If you have any questions please feel free to call anytime 330-889-2176.
